2011 Chevy Sonic – Awesome Sub Compact Car With Exceptional Handling

The unusual Chevy Sonic with be available in two model types when it’s released later this year. And as with most vehicle that offer a hatch and a sedan model, the latter will sell the most units, but Chevrolet is hoping that the hatchback version will produce a mountainous impact in the sub-compact car market. The car will advance standard with a six accelerate manual transmission, multiple airbags, power windows and locks and keyless entry.

When the auto company finally finished the prototype version of the 2011 Sonic, they gathered together quite a few journalists from the automotive field to not objective glean their view on the styling of the car, but instead they basically wanted to know how they “felt” while driving the car. The group that engineered this vehicle wanted this car to be the best car on the market that can catch 40 mpg and they also wanted it to be the most fun to drive.

The predecessor to the Sonic, the Aveo, was a decent car but it really didn’t stand out in the crowded sub-compact car market. But with this fresh vehicle, Chevy wanted to employ this opportunity to not only become one of the leading sub-c car manufacturers, but also change the perception that the company couldn’t build a sub-c that could equally compete with the Ford Fiesta. And so far, it seems like they have succeeded by releasing a vehicle that has stout styling and numerous advanced features.

The “fully loaded” version of the Sonic features 17 amble wheels and an optional turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. Compared to its competitors, the engine on this model is better overall due to the 138 horsepower and also because of the amount of torque is has (148 lb) . Its closest competitors, the Honda Fit and the Fiesta has 117hp and 120hp respectively. Overall, these numbers may not seem like a substantial deal, but when you factor in the other specs of the cars, than all of a sudden the hp becomes one of the main factors. The engine installed in the unfavorable well-organized has the same amount of hp and the fully loaded version, but it has a lower amount of torque.

Now even though the Sonic is a bit more remarkable than its competitors, it also has better over handling. Test runs display that it’s 2 seconds faster overall than other cars in its class. And honest like most vehicle these days, the power steering for this vehicle is fully electric and the “balance” of the steering feels exactly the contrivance it should, not too light or heavy. If you’re one of those drivers who would rather the stick shift version, you’ll be cheerful to know that the overall traipse is almost as serene as the automatic version.

So, with the release of this unique sub-c car, Chevrolet is arguably the front runner in this class of car. The 2011 Chevy Sonic has everything you would want from expansive safety features, friendly performance and numerous high quality interior features. As for the Fit and the Fiesta, these two cars are almost impartial as ample as the Sonic, but the main feature they are lacking is the high performance supercharged engine. And it’s because of that feature alone that makes the Sonic the best sub-c vehicle on the market this year, for now at least.
